Posted: September 5, 2016

AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd had a desire to become an organisation that is working towards business excellence. The organisation wanted to show how the company has been managed efficiently and effectively.

Therefore AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd implemented an Integrated SHEQ management system since 2008. AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd SHEQ integrated management system is certified by Lloyds Certification body.

A good place to start is to see what SHEQ management actually means. It is a variety of management system standards which are published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) to help organisations like AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd to implement management systems. Each of these standards contains the requirements of the systems, and address different criteria’s of management. Each and every standard have unique requirements but also have overlapping requirements.

The three basic or main management systems AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd and AESPUMP (Pty) Ltd comply with are the following:

Safety and Health management systems, with its requirements currently described as in OHSAS 18001:2007. We protect the health and safety of the worker as well as the public.

Environmental management systems, with its requirements currently described in ISO14001:2015. We limit adverse effects on the Environment and promote sustainability. This include living, non-living and man-made environment.

Quality management systems, with its requirements currently described in ISO9001:2015. The focus is on compliance with customer needs and requirements. It applies to how we are doing business to ensure the profitability and survival of our organisation.

AESSEAL (Pty) Ltd also comply with the ISO29001:2010 standard. This management system replaces the ISO9001 in certain industry sectors, like the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. These sectors do have specific quality management systems in place. The standard will focus on specific requirements for product and service supply by organisations.

The biggest benefit of the in-house system, Management can be fair in its allocation of resources and funds. If a prospective customer is looking for a potential supplier, the one with the certified quality management system looks more promising than the supplier without.

The SHEQ department with the help of the Human resources department make sure that our employees are looked after through the “Elevate Healthi Choices” program. Without the employees no organisation will be a success. A successful team is a team effort and not an individual effort.
