Launch of LEARN project

Posted: April 26, 2017

The LEARN Project works to provide libraries and stationary for underprivileged schools and communities. Their mission is to encourage a love of reading and learning in both teachers and students so that they can reach their full potential.  They raise support from sponsors and companies to make these outreach projects possible.

When Lucy Pienaar approached AESSEAL and explained how the LEARN Project are determined to build a positive future for our country, AESSEAL wanted to be a part of helping them make their dreams a reality. The next plan that the LEARN Project were taking on was to build a senior primary library at the Sophunga Primary School in Inanda, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Craig Murray, the financial manager at AESSEAL was very excited about this task and got AESSEAL involved.

“As part of our commitment to create and sustain positive learning environments, we knew that this was something we wanted to get involved with.” – Craig Murray

AESSEAL managed to gather other supporters and the library was built!  At the end of March, there was much excitement and a celebratory ceremony, filled with singing, dancing and speeches from learners and educators, took place.  The library seats forty learners and an extra twenty can be seated on big, bright, comfy cushions.  The walls are full of inspirational and educational charts and posters and there is even an interactive whiteboard which was installed by Neotel.

Thank you to everyone who got involved with this project! We, at AESSEAL strongly believe in creating positive learning environments for the children of South Africa. After all, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” – Nelson Mandela.
