The St. Francis Outreach Trust is an organisation that establishes family homes to provide support and supervised community based foster care for orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities of the Southern Peninsula in South Africa.

The project “Homes to Grow” completed its first foster home in Masiphumelele, Cape Town in September 2010.  The second Home was occupied in October 2016 by a foster mother and her 5 children.  Each house is run by a Foster Mother and an assistant, with a maximum number of children housed in one home is 6.

This trust is also further supported by:

  • The Desmond Tutu HIV AIDS Research Foundation
  • Lifeline/Childline Western Cape
  • Fikelela Anglican Church AIDS Foundation - SA
  • Poverty and Hope Canterbury Cathedral – UK
  • Ibhongo Trust – The Netherlands

In light of keeping up with the running costs of the two houses, as well as the soaring expenses of the children’s educational needs – the AESSEAL Charitable Trust have kindly donated to this worthy cause in the expectation of providing these children some much needed items for school, clothing and other welfare items.

School fees alone are an enormous amount to cover, and that excludes the cost of uniforms, books, stationery and transport.  Furthermore, these children require speech therapy, counselling and occupational therapy, which without the help and support of charities like AESSEAL, would not have been possible.

From the words of one of the Trustees at the St. Francis Trust:  “We can only continue with our work through the generous help of our supporters.  We wish to thank all of our friends around the world and especially those with a ‘magic wand’ who have so often come to our aid when our needs have been more urgent than usual!”
