In 2009 we were given the opportunity to suggest a mechanical seal for an agitator/mixer on Sasol Polymers. The problem the client had at the time was the MTBF, installation of the mechanical seal and the tedious measurement and testing problems. AES suggested a “one of a kind/unique” cartridge design back to back arrangement mechanical seal to eliminate these problems.
The project details entailed that whoever wins the contract must be approved by the MOC panel and it have to go through a trial period of 6 months before invoicing. The total cost of the project will be in the region of
R 1, 800,000.00 and of course, the repetitive business accompanied by this project.
AESSEAL was awarded the upgrade in January 2012. The first installed seal lasted approximately 4.5 years. A plant upset was the reason for the first failure.
Up until now we have changed +/- 20 units, this includes in-house repair and new sales.
